ServiceTitan Review 2026 for Pool Service: Pricing, Features, Pros & Cons

Parker Conley Parker Conley • Last updated: January 2026
⚠️
Not Pool-Specific Software
ServiceTitan is calendar-based, not route-based—a critical difference for pool service. Pool routes require optimized stop sequences that minimize drive time, but ServiceTitan schedules appointments like HVAC calls. It also lacks pool-specific features like chemical dosing calculators, LSI tracking, and water chemistry logs that dedicated pool software provides.

What is ServiceTitan?

ServiceTitan is an enterprise-level field service management platform built primarily for HVAC, plumbing, and electrical companies. Founded in 2012, the company has grown to become one of the largest players in the home services software space, reportedly valued at over $9 billion and serving thousands of contractors across North America.

The platform offers comprehensive features including dispatching, invoicing, call booking, marketing automation, financing, and detailed reporting. ServiceTitan is known for its powerful back-office capabilities and integrations with major systems. However, it's important to understand that ServiceTitan is not pool-specific software and lacks features that dedicated pool service platforms offer.

  • Pool equipment-specific fields (pump types, filter sizes, heater models)
  • Integration with pool test equipment (LaMotte, Spin Touch)
  • Pool-specific service checklists
  • Chemical usage tracking and reporting

Pros and Cons

✓ Pros

  • Powerful enterprise-level platform
  • Excellent call tracking and recording
  • Comprehensive reporting and KPIs
  • Good for multi-trade businesses
  • Strong marketing automation features
  • Customer financing options built-in
  • Large user community and ecosystem
  • Robust dispatching capabilities

✗ Cons

  • Very expensive compared to pool-specific software
  • Mobile app is buggy and crashes frequently (2.6/5 rating)
  • No pool-specific features (chemical dosing, LSI, etc.)
  • Locked into multi-year contracts
  • Significant battery drain on mobile devices
  • Font too small on phones (designed for tablets)
  • Steep learning curve
  • Customer support can be slow
  • Technicians often hate using it
  • Designed for office, not field workers

Mobile App Issues

ServiceTitan's mobile app receives significant criticism from field technicians. With a 2.6/5 rating on Google Play from 960+ reviews, the mobile experience is a consistent pain point. Common complaints include:

  • Crashes and freezing: The app frequently crashes mid-job, losing entered data
  • Battery drain: Users report the app draining 20-50% of battery during a workday
  • Small text: Interface designed for tablets, difficult to read on phones
  • Sync issues: Data doesn't always sync properly, especially offline
  • Photo upload problems: Photos frequently fail to upload or disappear
  • Android support: iOS version generally works better than Android

"I love the all in one software that ServiceTitan is. It combines so many features into one convenient location. I have always felt this way since the beginning. ServiceTitan is a wonderful software."

"The reason they give you 3 months free in the beginning is because it will take minimum 3 months to figure out how to use it because the onboarding is so bad. More than likely you will be like me and have to adapt your business to fit Service Titan not the opposite way which was pitched by sales."

"It's a horrible app. Yeah it has all these bells and whistles. You can never get customer service on the phone. You never get straight answers for anything. It's lots of passing back and forth emails and it's riddled with bugs. Constantly crashing and it's super expensive and they put you in a chokehold of a contract and won't let you out."

"This is built for the office, not the technician. Don't work at a place that uses this system if you want paid properly. Also, their big pitch is their customer calling feature. It's purpose is to save companies from providing company phones. Win for the office, loss for the tech as it works about 25% of the time."

"Hands down the worst experience I've ever had with an app like this. I HIGHLY recommend Housecall Pro instead of this app, it does everything Service Titan does much simpler and for way cheaper. Unfortunately my company paid for a contract and are now stuck due to them wanting like $2200 to cancel."

Frequently Asked Questions

Is ServiceTitan good for pool service companies?

For most pool service companies, dedicated pool software like Skimmer or Pool Brain is a better choice. ServiceTitan lacks pool-specific features like chemical dosing, LSI calculators, and water chemistry tracking. It's overkill for pool-only businesses and the high price isn't justified without pool-specific functionality. However, if you run a multi-trade business (pool + HVAC + plumbing), ServiceTitan's ability to manage multiple service types from one platform could make sense.

How much does ServiceTitan really cost?

ServiceTitan doesn't publish pricing, but user reports suggest $200-600+ per technician per month depending on features. Add implementation fees ($1,000-5,000), training costs, and various add-on features, and total cost can exceed $10,000/year for small companies. This is 3-10x more expensive than pool-specific alternatives.

Can I get out of my ServiceTitan contract?

ServiceTitan uses multi-year contracts (typically 3 years) with significant early termination fees. Users report being quoted $2,000-$10,000+ to exit contracts early. This is one of the most common complaints. Always negotiate contract terms carefully before signing.

Why is the mobile app rating so low?

Field technicians consistently report the mobile app crashes frequently, drains battery, has tiny text designed for tablets not phones, loses data when offline, and has poor Android support. The platform was designed office-first, and the mobile experience reflects that priority. Many technicians strongly dislike using it daily.

What's the biggest complaint about ServiceTitan?

The contract terms and pricing are the biggest complaints. Users feel locked in to expensive, long-term agreements. The second most common complaint is the mobile app quality and the disconnect between what sales promises vs. what the product actually delivers for field workers.

Our Verdict

2.5
out of 5 for Pool Service

ServiceTitan is a powerful enterprise platform, but it's not the right choice for most pool service companies. The high cost, lack of pool-specific features, buggy mobile app, and restrictive contracts make dedicated pool software a much better value. If you only do pool service, choose Skimmer, Pool Brain, or PSS instead. ServiceTitan only makes sense if you run a large multi-trade operation where pool service is just one of several divisions, and you need a single platform for all trades. Even then, be prepared for unhappy technicians and a steep learning curve.
