PoolDial vs Skimmer 2026: Which Pool Service Software Is Right for You?
Both PoolDial and Skimmer handle the daily work of a pool company: routes, service records, chemistry, customer communication, and billing. The bigger difference is the kind of product and company you want behind that work. Skimmer is the established option; PoolDial is newer and offers a much closer relationship with its founder.
Founder’s take: I’m Parker Conley, the founder of PoolDial. For the average buyer who mainly wants an established platform, I would choose Skimmer. I would choose PoolDial for a smaller company that values a modern product, direct founder support, and input into what gets built. This comparison explains that recommendation and its tradeoffs.

Pricing Comparison
Pricing checked September 25, 2026. At 100 serviced pools on 100 separate locations, both base subscriptions are $200 per month. PoolDial counts serviced pools; Skimmer counts serviced locations, which can contain more than one body of water. That distinction matters when comparing a route with pools and spas at the same address.
PoolDial
- $2/pool/month
- $40 monthly minimum
- No contracts—cancel anytime
Included: Routes, service records, chemistry, billing, QuickBooks, unlimited users, and AI tools. The published $2 rate also applies above 500 pools.
Skimmer
- Getting Started: $49 minimum for 0–49 serviced locations
- Scaling Up: $2/location for 50–1,000 locations ($100 at 50)
- Enterprise: Custom pricing above 1,000 locations
Included on Scaling Up: Route optimization and unlimited users. AI Phone is an optional $99/month add-on.
Compare the subscription you will actually use
With AI Phone, the 100-location Skimmer example becomes $299/month; without it, the base remains $200. PoolDial’s example remains $200. These are USD subscription estimates before processing fees and applicable taxes. If you already have phone coverage, judge the core workflow on its own merits. PoolDial pricing · Skimmer pricing.
The AI Receptionist as a Supporting Tool
Both platforms offer an AI Receptionist, but PoolDial includes it in the base price while Skimmer charges extra for it as an add-on.
Phone Answering Comparison
PoolDial
Included phone answering for pool-service inquiries, lead capture, and call summaries. Try your own greeting and common customer questions to see how it handles the calls your business receives.
Skimmer’s AI Phone can answer forwarded calls and collect caller information. Its setup guide covers the greeting, forwarding, and call activity. See Skimmer’s AI Phone guide.
Phone answering can help a solo operator who cannot pick up during a service visit. It is one part of the decision, though: test how each system handles a new lead, an existing customer, and a question it cannot answer. The two products should not be assumed to behave identically just because both use AI.
Mobile App Experience
Your technicians will use the mobile app at nearly every stop. Both products support offline work, but the best test is the route and devices your team already uses.
Mobile App Comparison
PoolDial
iOS and Android apps for routes, readings, dosages, photos, and service records, with offline mode. PoolDial is newer and has less public review history; a modern interface alone does not establish better reliability.
An established technician app with offline route work, checklists, readings, dosages, and customer history. Skimmer’s documentation notes that much older history may need to download from the cloud. See its mobile history workflow.
Try the same stop on each app: lose connectivity, enter readings, add photos, reconnect, and confirm what the office and customer receive. Include older service history in that test. That will tell you more than selecting a few crash complaints from one product’s reviews.
Product Design & Company Fit
I prefer PoolDial’s interface and the way early customers can help shape it. That is my opinion as its founder. Skimmer has a different strength: an established platform with a broader operating history and support options for larger teams.
- Pool-specific routes, chemistry, and service records
- Direct access to the founder for support and feedback
- Regional currency and metric-unit settings
- Website builder included
- Best evaluated by smaller companies open to a newer product
- Established pool-service platform
- Offline field work and chemistry history
- Billing, QuickBooks, and customer communication
- Enterprise options for larger operations
- Dedicated success manager on Enterprise
The tradeoff is maturity versus a closer product relationship. PoolDial is smaller and still developing. Skimmer may be a better fit when your team needs established workflows and a larger support organization. Have a technician learn the same tasks in each product before deciding which interface is simpler for your team. Skimmer’s Enterprise offering.
QuickBooks Integration
Both products connect with QuickBooks Online. What matters is which records sync, when they arrive, and where your bookkeeper should make corrections.
Accounting Integration
PoolDial
QuickBooks integration is included in PoolDial’s current subscription. Use a sample customer, invoice, payment, and refund to confirm the workflow with your bookkeeper before moving your billing.
Skimmer documents automatic transfers of customers, products, payments, and paid invoices to QuickBooks Online. Its guide says an unpaid invoice remains in Skimmer until payment is recorded. That is a workflow distinction to evaluate, not a lack of QuickBooks support. Read the sync guide.
What Users Are Saying
Public reviews and my recommendation
The video research found a substantial public review history for Skimmer and no comparable score for PoolDial. I would not turn that into a claim that our newer app is more stable. Here is the review context alongside my recommendation:
The August 9, 2026 video snapshot recorded Skimmer at 4.9 on Capterra (230 reviews) and 4.7 on Google Play (769 reviews). Those are dated platform scores, not a fresh September rating or a controlled reliability test.
For an average buyer who wants an established pool-service platform, I would choose Skimmer. It would also be my preference for a larger company. PoolDial makes more sense when direct founder access, product input, and its regional settings matter more to you.
Read recent reviews on the platform your technicians use, and look for recurring themes from companies like yours. A business with 30 pools and a multi-location operator may reasonably want different things. PoolDial publishes this article; it is not an independent product ranking.
Data Portability & Website Builder
Two often-overlooked features that matter more than most pool service owners realize: data portability and a professional website.
Check the records you can take with you. PoolDial offers import and export tools. Skimmer documents spreadsheet exports for customers, service locations, and completed service history. Ask both products for a sample containing the records you need, including attachments and billing history. Skimmer’s reports and exports.
PoolDial includes a website builder. That can be useful when you are starting a business and want your website and lead capture alongside your operating software. If you already have a website that works well, this may be a smaller factor in your decision.
Both also have AI tools. PoolDial’s Cody helps with questions and supported actions. Skimmer’s early-access AI Insights answers reporting questions and exports results to CSV, but its documentation says it cannot change records. Compare those capabilities directly rather than treating AI as exclusive to PoolDial. Skimmer AI Insights.

Skimmer’s established workflows and support may matter more than included extras. Compare the actual package and billing unit.
Can I switch from Skimmer to PoolDial?
PoolDial can review your export and help import supported customer and route data. Confirm service history, attachments, invoices, and stored payment methods separately. A sample migration is the best way to see what will transfer before switching.
Does PoolDial work offline?
PoolDial has an offline mode for field work. Skimmer also supports offline technician workflows. Test readings, notes, photos, and reconnection on the devices your team uses; some cloud information may still require connectivity.
How does the AI Receptionist work?
PoolDial’s included AI receptionist handles incoming inquiries, captures lead information, and provides call summaries. Skimmer offers AI Phone as an optional add-on. Try real customer questions and escalation scenarios in each product before choosing.
Does Skimmer offer a free trial?
Skimmer advertises a first-month Scaling Up promotion with usage limits; its terms say service beyond 49 locations can be billed. PoolDial offers a 14-day trial. Check each vendor’s current offer and cancellation terms before signing up.
Choose PoolDial if you are starting or growing a pool service business and want a modern foundation for routes, field service records, chemistry, customer history, and billing. It is especially well suited to operators moving from their first customer toward their first crew who value helping shape a newer product.
Choose Skimmer if your priority is an established pool-service platform, a larger support organization, or the needs of a bigger operation. That is my recommendation for the average buyer who values maturity most. Choose between the two by running a real route, service record, invoice, and accounting handoff in each.
If PoolDial’s approach fits your company, try it with a representative route. If your current system is working well, staying with it can be the right decision too.
