IntelliTouch Service and Maintenance Guide
The IntelliTouch system provides several service and maintenance procedures that pool professionals need to perform during installation, troubleshooting, or board replacement. These include temperature sensor calibration, firmware version checks, configuration sync, and factory reset procedures.
This guide covers all IntelliTouch service procedures from the official Pentair IntelliTouch User's Guide.
Calibrating Temperature Sensors
The IntelliTouch system uses 10 kΩ thermistor sensors for water and air temperature (and optionally solar). These sensors are generally accurate, but long plumbing runs or water features can cause the sensor reading to differ from the actual body of water temperature. Calibrate from MENU → SETUP → ADVANCED → CALIBRATE.
Calibrating the Water Sensor
- Switch on the pool or spa filter pump
- Place an accurate all-weather thermometer in the pool or spa
- Wait for the thermometer reading to stabilize
- At the Indoor Control Panel, press the buttons next to "Water Temp" to adjust up or down until it matches the thermometer
- Press Exit when finished
i10+3D systems: Calibrate both pool and spa water sensors separately. Three sensors are included — one each for spa water, pool water, and air temperature.
Calibrating the Air Sensor
- Locate the air sensor — it is mounted near or under the Load Center or Power Center, not inside the enclosure
- Place a thermometer next to the sensor, in the shade (not direct sunlight)
- At the Indoor Control Panel, press the buttons next to "Air Temp" to adjust up or down to match
- Press Exit when finished
Checking Firmware Version
Firmware is the factory-installed operating software for the Outdoor Control Panel (UOC) and Indoor Control Panel (UIC). Different controllers can have different firmware versions depending on when they were installed. To check:
- From the Indoor Control Panel, go to MENU → SETUP → ADVANCED
- Press buttons 2 and 4 simultaneously — the Service Personnel screen appears
- Press the button next to System Version Info
- Firmware versions for the UIC (Indoor) and UOC (Outdoor) are displayed
- Press Back to exit, then Exit to return to the main screen
To check firmware on the MobileTouch: From the MobileTouch Advanced screen, press buttons 2 and 4 simultaneously to reach the Service Personnel screen, then press System Version Info.
Syncing Configurations (Service Personnel Screen)
System configuration is stored in the Outdoor Control Panel and automatically backed up to all Indoor Control Panels and MobileTouch controllers. If needed, you can manually force a sync:
- Go to MENU → SETUP → ADVANCED
- Press buttons 2 and 4 simultaneously — Service Personnel screen appears
- Press Get Image from Outdoor to download outdoor configuration to the Indoor Panel / MobileTouch
- Press Send Image to Outdoor to upload Indoor Panel / MobileTouch settings to the Outdoor Control Panel
- A stopwatch icon flashing indicates data transfer in progress
- Press Back when the transfer finishes, then Exit to return to main screen
Erasing System Memory (Indoor Control Panel Factory Reset)
This procedure erases the Indoor Control Panel's locally stored memory — user interface settings, controller ordering, and its backup copy of the system configuration — and returns it to factory defaults. Use this when replacing the Indoor Control Panel PCB or resolving persistent configuration problems. The authoritative circuit configuration lives in the Outdoor Control Panel and will automatically re-download to the Indoor Panel after reconnection.
- From the Indoor Control Panel, go to MENU → SETUP → ADVANCED
- Press buttons 2 and 4 simultaneously to access the Service Personnel screen
- Press ERASE EEPROM ALL
- Confirm when prompted
- The Outdoor Control Panel will automatically re-download system configuration to the Indoor Panel after reconnection
Erasing Outdoor Control Panel Memory (Factory Default)
This procedure resets the Outdoor Control Panel (inside the Load Center or Power Center) to factory defaults. Use this when replacing the Outdoor Control Panel PCB. After erasing, the Indoor Control Panel or MobileTouch will automatically upload their stored configuration to the Outdoor Control Panel.
- Press the Reset button on the Outdoor Control Panel — the three System Control LEDs will light
- Press the number 5 button — the System Control LEDs will flash OFF then back ON
- While the System Control LEDs are ON, press the number 1 button
- The System Control LEDs will begin flashing on and off — the system is resetting
After the reset, all Expansion Centers, additional iS10 remotes, and multiple Indoor Control Panels must be manually re-enabled (see pages 26–27 of the IntelliTouch User's Guide).
Checking Personality Board Connections (System Startup Check)
Before troubleshooting or after a board replacement, verify all Personality board connectors are seated correctly:
- Relay connectors: FLTR PUMP, AUX 1–AUX 8
- Temperature sensor connectors: WATER, SOLAR, AIR
- Transformer wire harness: J2
- Heater control connector: ELEC HTR or screw terminals
- COM port connections: Indoor Control Panel, MobileTouch Transceiver, SpaCommand/iS10 remotes
Note: Temperature sensor wires are non-polarized — red and black wires are interchangeable on the 10 kΩ thermistor sensors.
