IntelliTouch MobileTouch and QuickTouch Wireless Remote Problems

The IntelliTouch system supports two wireless control options: the MobileTouch rechargeable LCD controller (full-featured, ~300 ft range) and the QuickTouch / QuickTouch II RF remote (simple 4-function on/off control). Each uses a different wireless technology and has distinct failure modes.

This guide covers MobileTouch connection failures, temperature readout errors, QuickTouch RF issues, range problems, and ghost switching, based on the official Pentair IntelliTouch User's Guide.

MobileTouch Wireless Controller Problems

The MobileTouch (P/N 520906) is a rechargeable wireless controller with a 3.75" LCD that operates within ~300 feet of the Load Center. It communicates via a Transceiver antenna connected to the Personality board.

MobileTouch Fails to Turn On or Light Up

Possible CauseSolution
Battery not chargedAttach the AC charger to the MobileTouch and plug into a wall outlet. A full recharge takes 3–4 hours. The battery icon scrolls during charging and is replaced with a plug icon when fully charged.
Battery needs replacementUse only the Pentair replacement battery (P/N 520815Z).

MobileTouch Fails to Communicate with the System

Possible CauseSolution
MobileTouch not enabledThe MobileTouch must be manually enabled after installation. Follow the pairing procedure: press Reset on the Outdoor Control Panel, wait for LEDs to cycle and blink, then access the Advanced screen on the MobileTouch and press buttons 2 and 4 simultaneously. Select LOCK ON ADDRESS.
Defective Transceiver wiringVerify Transceiver wiring at the Load Center or Power Center. Check for loose connections and broken wires. The POWER LED on the Transceiver should always be lit. The LINK ACTIVITY LED should flash approximately every 2 seconds.
Defective Transceiver at Load CenterVerify both Transceiver LEDs: POWER should be constantly lit; LINK ACTIVITY should flash every 2 seconds or when a button is pressed. If LINK ACTIVITY does not blink, the Transceiver may be defective.

MobileTouch Works Intermittently

Possible CauseSolution
Defective wiring — typically the green wireVerify all four wire connections to the Transceiver. Intermittent issues are most commonly caused by a loose or damaged green wire.
Address lock not set correctlyAccess the Service Personnel screen on the MobileTouch (buttons 2 + 4 from Advanced screen). Check the LOCK ON ADDRESS line. For MobileTouch firmware 1.160/2.160, watch the LEDs on the Outdoor Control Panel to determine the channel number, then manually enter it using MAN mode.

MobileTouch Temperature Readout Inaccurate (20–30° Off)

Cause: Temperature sensor cables are picking up electrical interference from fluorescent lighting fixtures.

Solution: Ensure that temperature sensor cables running from the sensors to the Load Center are not routed within 6 inches of any fluorescent light fixture. Reroute the cables away from fluorescent fixtures if necessary.

QuickTouch / QuickTouch II Wireless Remote Problems

The QuickTouch II (P/N 521245) and QT4 (P/N 520148) are 4-function wireless RF remotes. They use a transmitter in the handheld remote and a Receiver PCB installed in the Load Center or Power Center.

QuickTouch Turns Equipment On But Not Off (or Greatly Reduced Range)

This typically occurs when electrical noise from running equipment is interfering with the Receiver PCB. When motors and pumps start up, they can generate RF noise that interferes with the wireless signal.

  • Relocate the Receiver PCB away from blower motors and other high-noise equipment
  • Choose a location that provides fewer obstructions between the Receiver and the area where the transmitter is commonly used

QuickTouch Operates Circuits On Its Own (Ghost Switching)

A nearby home is likely using a compatible wireless remote on the same address code.

  • Select an alternate address code by changing the DIP switches on both the transmitter and the Receiver PCB to a new matching setting
