With one or two technicians, you’re past the solo stage but not yet running crews. You need software that hands a route to a second person, shows you what got done, and doesn’t get expensive as you add pools. For most companies this size, I’d look at PoolDial or Skimmer, and price Pool Brain as the team grows.
I’m Parker Conley, the founder of PoolDial, so read this as a vendor’s guide rather than an independent ranking. I’ve ranked the products by what a one- or two-technician company needs and explained each one’s tradeoffs, and my own picks are labeled as opinion below.
With one or two technicians, I’d still look at PoolDial or Skimmer first. PoolDial gives you a modern product and direct access to me; Skimmer is the established default. This is the stage PoolDial is built for: owners growing from their first customer toward their first crew.
As you add technicians, start pricing Pool Brain. It charges $50 a month plus $65 per technician, so its bill tracks your team rather than your pool count. Once you reach three or more technicians, I’d look at Skimmer or Pool Brain first.
The ranking
Here’s what I weighed for this size of company, then the products in order.
Per-pool or per-technician pricing. Per-pool and per-location plans such as PoolDial and Skimmer grow with the route. Per-technician plans such as Pool Brain, Paythepoolman, and ProValet grow with the team. Price your current setup and the one after your next hire.
Handing off and checking work. Your second technician should see their route on their own phone, and you should see readings, photos, and completed stops without calling them. Pool Brain’s service levels with required readings and checklists are built for this.
Users and roles. PoolDial includes unlimited users, and Pool Brain includes unlimited office users. Count the office as well as the field on any per-user plan.
Mobile and offline. Have each technician complete a stop with poor connectivity. Skimmer, PoolDial, and PSS support field work without a signal; Skimmer notes that much older service history may need to download from the cloud.
Accounting sync. Test the QuickBooks or Xero sync with your bookkeeper. Skimmer keeps unpaid invoices in Skimmer until payment is recorded, and Paythepoolman labels its QuickBooks Online integration beta.
1. Skimmer
Best for: The established default, with offline technician workflows and Enterprise controls for later

Skimmer leads at one or two technicians because it can carry you past this stage with less risk of changing systems. Your second technician gets workflows that work without a signal, and you get service records, readings, dosages, billing, and QuickBooks in one place. If you grow into several crews, Enterprise controls are there later. Its 999 reviews on Capterra and Google Play as of August 9, 2026 are also the most useful public evidence on this page.
By the published formula, checked October 29, 2026, it is $100 a month at one technician and 50 pools, and $200 at two technicians and 100 pools. Technicians don’t change the bill; serviced locations do. Pool Brain and Paythepoolman come in lower at two technicians, so price both. At 50 locations or more you are on Scaling Up, so route optimization is included, but AI Phone still adds $99 a month. Ask your bookkeeper whether keeping unpaid invoices in Skimmer until payment is recorded works before you commit.
2. PoolDial
Best for: A modern product and direct founder access, with unlimited users at $2 per pool

PoolDial is second, and one or two technicians is the stage I built it for. Adding someone doesn’t add a seat charge, because users are unlimited, and team roles are included. The app works offline and syncs when the connection returns, route optimization is included, and 24/7 AI phone answering covers the calls you can’t take from a truck. QuickBooks Online and Xero sync are both available, and you can come straight to me with problems or product requests.
As checked September 25, 2026, it is $2 per pool with a $40 minimum: $100 at 50 pools and $200 at 100, the same as Skimmer. Pool Brain’s $180 and Paythepoolman’s $80 are lower at two technicians. PoolDial’s record is the weak part. It had three five-star App Store ratings as of October 28, 2026, and it has less review history and a smaller ecosystem than Skimmer. It also relies on manual reading entry, without photometer integration. Have both technicians run a real route in the 14-day trial.
3. Pool Brain
Best for: Worth pricing as the team grows: $50 a month plus $65 per technician

Pool Brain ranks third at this size because you may not need its strongest feature yet, but you will soon. Service levels with required readings and checklists are built for the moment you stop doing every stop yourself. You can set what must be captured, then review completed work without calling your technician. Route optimization on web and mobile, scheduled invoices, payment-decline retries, and unlimited office users add to the case.
The formula, checked October 29, 2026, is $50 a month plus $65 per technician: $115 with one and $180 with two. At one technician it costs more than PoolDial or Skimmer at 50 pools, and at two it costs less at 100 pools, so the crossover starts around your next hire. The tradeoff is the field app. As of August 9, 2026, it had 4.9 from 27 reviews on Capterra but only 3.4 from 137 on Google Play, and the interface feels older to me. With so few technicians, one unhappy user matters, so let yours decide.
4. Paythepoolman
Best for: The lowest published per-technician bill: $50 a month plus $15 per technician

Paythepoolman is fourth because it has the lowest published per-technician bill here and asks more of you in exchange. At $50 a month plus $15 per technician, checked August 12, 2026, one technician costs $65 and two cost $80. Adding your second person costs far less than on Pool Brain or ProValet, and pools don’t change the bill. For a small crew watching every dollar, that gap is hard to ignore. You also get technician GPS, payroll, fleet records, tasks, and proof of service in the same system.
Before you count that as savings, confirm what your package includes. Some features are add-ons, custom-priced, new, or beta, and the QuickBooks Online integration is labeled beta, so have your bookkeeper reconcile a real billing batch. The public sample was 23 reviews on the same date, and one recent Google Play review criticized usability after updates, though that is only one review. I think of it as finicky but legitimate. Have both technicians run a real stop before you decide.
5. Pool Service Software (PSS)

PSS ranks fifth at this size because its strength is price and chemistry rather than managing a team. Its bill follows properties, not technicians: $49.99 a month through 50 and $99 through 100, as checked August 12, 2026. That is the lowest figure on this page for one technician and 50 pools, though Paythepoolman’s $80 undercuts it at two technicians and 100 pools. If you outgrow 100 properties, you move to $0.95 per property. A property is a body of water, so count carefully.
The toolkit is deep for a two-person company: readings, dosages, LSI, chemical, gas, route, and labor-cost visibility, configurable service tasks and reports, offline field work, QuickBooks Online, and LaMotte and Orenda integrations. If your current PSS setup works, staying can be the right decision. Before you commit a second technician to it, run a full week of stops on the phones you both carry. Public reviews are few, with three on Capterra, and I found no clear public documentation for a complete outbound export, so ask for a sample.
6. ProValet

ProValet ranks last on this list because it costs the most at this size for a product whose position goes well beyond pools. As checked August 12, 2026, one published plan costs $149 a month including one technician, plus $59 for the second, or $208. That is more than every other option here in both columns. It makes more sense if you also run lawn, pest, or other recurring routes on one system, or if you want customers to see visits, message you, pay, rate service, and tip through a homeowner app.
What you get is broad: scheduling, dispatch, GPS, offline technician work, automated invoicing, Stripe, two-way QuickBooks sync, unlimited admins, and guided migration with personalized onboarding. Its technician app includes custom chemistry reading requirements and supply usage, so have your technician complete a real stop to judge how the pool side works. Seven public reviews on that date are far too few for a verdict, and I don’t know the product deeply. Confirm data export and country support before you buy.
These are illustrative estimates from published pricing, not quotes. The two-technician column assumes the owner plus two technicians as users. PoolDial counts serviced pools, Skimmer counts serviced locations, and PSS counts properties, each a body of water. Skimmer’s AI Phone adds $99 a month, and Paythepoolman’s optional add-ons are excluded. Add payment processing and any add-ons before you compare.
How to choose
Put your top two or three through the same day of work instead of comparing feature lists:
- Price your current team and the team after your next hire.
- Have each technician run a real route on their own phone, including a poor-signal stop.
- Set the readings and photos you require at each stop and check that they’re captured.
- Review a day’s completed work from the office without calling anyone.
- Create an invoice and test the QuickBooks or Xero sync with your bookkeeper.
